Hi there, Baltimore—and past! I’m Ivy Buchowski, and sure, I’ve formally taken over Minxeats for a short time. Kathy Patterson, aka Kat LaGue,, the good thoughts behind the Good Scents cozy mysteries, was type sufficient to let me hijack her weblog so I can speak about considered one of my favourite issues on this planet: meals. You may know me from the pages of her ebook Killer Sillage, poking round her fictional fragrance store, fixing mysteries, and often stirring up hassle. Here, although, it’s all about snacks, crumbs, and sincere opinions (the sassier, the higher). Whether it’s a pastry, a seafood delight, or a fried hen that makes you weep with pleasure, I’ll be tasting, testing, and typically trash-talking with full disclosure. Welcome to my takeover. Grab a fork, sit tight, and let’s see what Baltimore has to supply.

——————————-

Hand me my megaphone, as a result of I’ve one thing to say. One phrase: Ekiben. If you’ve been sleeping on this little slice of Fells Point/Hampden/South Baltimore foodie heaven, contemplate this your official wake-up name.

First off, the buns. Steamed to perfection, smooth however not floppy, holding all the flavour with out collapsing into a tragic, soggy mess. And the fillings? Don’t even get me began. Spicy ancho chile pork that melts towards your style buds, fried hen that’s crisped to golden glory, tofu for the herbivores amongst us…mainly, they make everybody joyful. Don’t need a bun? Get it in a bowl with rice, as an alternative. Less messy, simply as scrumptious.

What I really like most? The steadiness. Crunch, tenderness, spice, tang. Every chew has a narrative, and my mouth is the keen viewers. Pro tip: get the tempura broccoli, with Chinese sausage. You will not remorse it.

Pro tip: come hungry, deliver a good friend (or don’t, extra for you), and tempo your self. One bun is nice. Two? Ambitious. Three? Call me, and I’ll allow you to eat.

So yeah. Ekiben. Go. Now. And don’t blame me when you possibly can’t cease excited about that tofu brah bun three hours later.
