BALTIMORE — A convicted former Baltimore Police detective who was a part of the disgraced Gun Trace Task Force (GTTF), has issued an apology from federal prison, accepting accountability for his actions.
“I’m really sorry for the best way myself and others that I labored with acted and handled others throughout OUR time as Police Officers. There are issues that I’m very pleased with that I’ve achieved as a Police Officer within the Baltimore Police
Department however sadly these accomplishments are overshadowed by my conduct within the G.T.T.F.
My actions have damage and affected so many others that put their belief in me and to at the present time it weighs on my thoughts.”
That message from Daniel Hersl, whose at the moment serving 18 years behind bars after a jury convicted him in 2018 on racketeering prices.
Last October Hersl requested compassionate launch, claiming he’d been recognized with metastatic prostate most cancers, and had solely 18 months to dwell.
Prosecutors on the time argued that Hersl “continues to disclaim accountability for his crimes.”
Opposite his apology now, they mentioned Hersl “expressed no regret.”

Since his incarceration, Hersl’s been named in a number of lawsuits from these alleging to be victims of the GTTF.
