Move over, Grammys! Wammies honor local musicians with Hitmakers Ball at Capital One Hall

The thirty sixth annual Wammies can be held Saturday night time at Capital One Hall in Tysons, Virginia.

The public occasion is hosted by the nonprofit group The MusicianShip, which took over the ceremony from the Washington Area Music Association in 2018 and held it final 12 months at the Capital Turnaround in Southeast D.C.

Granobles, DCPS Music Teacher of the Year; Dan Spears, vp of licensing for BMI; Stephen Parker, head of the National International Venue Association; and the late Sandra Butler-Truesdale, who handed in October after a lifetime of mentoring D.C. musicians.

Beyond the awards, Saturday’s occasion will characteristic 10 dwell performances for a “Hitmakers Ball.”

“We’re going to have some huge local names which can be performing dwell,” Liley mentioned. “Everyone from The Future Band in D.C.; Alex Hamburger, a jazz singer; Samia, who’s this rising rock performer; Eightlock Band, which is the band of Paul Reed Smith … this nice funk band; and the featured efficiency of the night is Red, Gold & Green, a band out of Virginia who’ve really carried out with Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters.”
