On Friday, the county’s Board of Education introduced that it’s starting the formal “nationwide search” for a successor to former Superintendent Monifa McKnight, who stepped down in February with two years remaining on her contract.
According to a information launch from the BOE, surveys will exit to workers and households on Wednesday, March 13, and a search agency is being employed to “recruit and vet the candidates.”
Once candidates are recognized, interviews with the BOE and “a consultant neighborhood panel” can be held earlier than the ultimate choice is made.
The BOE plans on having the brand new superintendent in place by July.
McKnight introduced she’d reached a “mutually agreed upon separation” with the school board, weeks after she went public with a press release saying that school board officers made clear their “need for me to step away” from her job.
The school system at present has interim superintendent Monique Felder, who was appointed Feb. 6, on the helm.
Felder beforehand labored in Montgomery County colleges as a trainer and director of Accelerated and Enriched Instruction and director of the Interventions Network for MCPS.
The boards can be held April 2-4 at 6 p.m. throughout MCPS colleges.
