BALTIMORE — The Captain of the Port is beginning the course of of creating a short lived alternate route on the northeast aspect of the space round the Francis Scott Key Bridge for important ships.
This is the first step to reopening the fundamental path.
Key Bridge Response Unified Command says, “The short-term channel will probably be marked with government-lighted aids to navigation and can have a controlling depth of 11 toes, a 264-foot horizontal clearance, and vertical clearance 96 toes.”

Currently, there’s a 2000-yard security zone round the Key Bridge, which is there to defend crews working to clear the wreckage, ships, and surrounding setting.
No unauthorized ships or individuals could enter this space.
