Just earlier than 6 a.m., listeners referred to as the WTOP Traffic Center to explain a tractor trailer fully “ablaze” close to mile marker 25 on southbound I-270.
Fire and rescue crews arrived on the scene at roughly 5:57 a.m. to place out the fire. The division posted on Facebook that the driving force is already out of the car and it’s asking drivers to take Route 355 as an alternate route.
Two hours later, the I-270 southbound stays closed. First responders are diverting site visitors between Maryland Route 80 to Urbana on Exit 26 and Maryland Route 109 in the direction of Hyattstown on Exit 22 as they battle the blaze. The northbound left lane can be blocked.
