This weekend, Metro plans to do construction and repairs to some elements of the Red Line, closing two stations for the monitor work to be achieved.
Free shuttle buses on Saturday and Sunday will substitute trains between Grosvenor-Strathmore and Friendship Heights. In addition, the Medical Center and Bethesda stations can be closed.
Metro mentioned in a press release that it could be performing repairs to the aerial construction “due to important deterioration,” in addition to pouring new concrete grout pads, putting in new rail and fasteners and changing feeder cables that provide energy to the third rail.
In addition to the monitor work on the Red Line, trains will single monitor between Navy Yard and Anacostia on the Green Line for upkeep to the platform lighting and tracks.
Normal service will proceed on all different rail strains.
